Percy Smith

	Percy Smith, 96, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:50 P.M., Sunday, July 4, 2004 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale at Carbondale, IL.
	Percy had been a paint contractor for fifty-five years.  He was a fifty year member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.  He was a member of Du Quoin American Legion, past member of Lions Club, member of Anglers Sunday School Class, had been a Youth Leader and Church Choir member and worked in the Primary Department.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II.
	He was born September 14, 1907 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Henry G. and Gertrude Hattie (Kelley) Smith.
	He married Mary M. Polito on January 17, 1934 at DeSoto, IL and she survives.
	He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - Fred Lee Smith and wife Val of Lemon Grove, CA, one daughter - Rosa Lee LeTourneau of San Antonio, TX, special friends - Charles and Barbara McCollum of Du Quoin, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
	Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating.
	Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
	Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
	Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and Du Quoin American Legion.
	Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Music Department or to the First Baptist Church General Fund.
